Six of the best festive hacks for you this Christmas…

Words/ Lou Andrews

In this edition, we have filled our festive stockings to the brim with time saving treats! Check out these Christmas cherubs!

DIY Frosted Windows

I love the look of fake snow on the windows at Christmas (much to the annoyance of my partner!). It just adds to that Christmassy look! So, finding an easy hack that can make this happen is a win for me. What do we need? Well, its simple, just a cup of light-coloured beer and some Epsom salts!

Check out the brilliant guide from Confessions of an Overworked Mom (just on her name, it’s worth a look!).

Make an indoor snowman

I’m a big kid at heart so this one had me at ‘Snowman’! Luckily, the guide is for small tray snowmen that your kids will love making (or I literally would have built a life-sized one and made my lounge look like a scene from Frozen!) So, what do we need?  Cornstarch, shaving foam, plastic container, newspaper and any items to make the accessories like small buttons, string for a scarf etc.

There is a brilliant how to guide on Messy Parents, Messy Kids.

Cut! That’s a wrap!

Cut your wrapping paper only to realise its too small for your gift? Or maybe it’s the last piece in the roll and it’s just too short? Check out this from one of our firm favourites here at REFRAME…Emily Norris. She really is a time saving guru!

Tree light storage

This is likely as frustrating for many of you as it is for me! You get the tree and decorations down from the loft only to realise that your tree lights are more tangled than the crystal maze! Then you spend the next three hours trying to sort them out! Sound familiar? Well again our friend Emily Noris has your back! And all you need is the cardboard inner piece from your rolls of wrapping paper and a pair of scissors!

Slow cooker hot chocolate

I have a slow cooker at home, but never have I thought of using it to make hot chocolate, which is a firm festive favourite in my house. There are many recipes out there, but one I found from The Country Cook has 5 stars out of 110 reviews, so it’s a pretty good place to start.

Muffin tray advent calendar

I quite like this quirky idea as odd as it may sound by the title! You can pick up a cheap muffin tray down at the local Poundland to kick this one off and then decorate it however you please. I’m sure any kid (or adult!) will love it!
